As freezing temperatures approach the Denver metro area, Nieves Ministries is leading a grassroots charge to provide warmth and survival gear to those facing homelessness. Operating from their Aurora headquarters, founder Alex Nieves—who draws from his own lived experience with homelessness—and his team are racing to distribute pallets of blankets, winter clothing, and hygiene kits to overflow shelters and individuals on the streets.

Filling the Gap in Cold Weather Activation

While the City of Denver activates emergency shelter protocols when temperatures drop below 25°F or snowfall exceeds two inches, official bed capacity is often pushed to its limit. Nieves Ministries steps in where systems fall short, providing:

  • Bulk Donations: Delivering multiple pallets of blankets to the Denver Rescue Mission and local grassroots sites.

  • Essential Amenity Kits: Distribution of hygiene products, socks, and self-care items.

  • Direct Outreach: Encouraging those in tents and temporary structures to visit their Aurora office for immediate supplies.

Community-Powered Support

Supported by local sponsors like Denver Auto Gallery and community donations, Nieves Ministries emphasizes that "community is everything" when facing uncertainty. The mission is deeply personal, inspired by the legacy of late co-founder James Feller, whose own clothing continues to be part of the ministry’s life-saving distribution efforts. Read More
